Organizing books by their reading level is a practice that is based upon reading incentive programs, such as Accelerated Reader. Books are organized with a colored dot on their spine that indicates the reading level they are for. Once a student takes a reading level test, they are given the color that most suits this level, which helps them locate the books for them on the shelves. This helps students find books quickly and helps for fast reshelving (Houston, 2007).
